In 2002, Dr. Belding Scribner recieved the Albert Lasker Clinical Medical Research Award for his lifelong work in the area of hemodialysis. In this interview shortly after recieving this award, Dr. Scribner reviews how the idea for the Scribner shunt came into existence through a collaberation with other colleagues in a "combination of good fortune." This is a must see video for all dialysis patients to gain an understanding of the true life saving nature of hemodialysis through the eyes of it's earliest pioneer. Please join me in praising the work that Dr. Scribner and his colleagues offered not only to America, but truly to the entire world.
